7th Conference on Detection of Intrusions and Malware & Vulnerability Assessment

The annual DIMVA conference serves as a premier forum for advancing the state of the art in intrusion detection, malware detection, and vulnerability assessment. Each year DIMVA brings together international experts from academia, industry and government to present and discuss novel research in these areas. DIMVA is organized by the special interest group Security - Intrusion Detection and Response (SIDAR) of the German Informatics Society (GI). The conference proceedings will appear in Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

HyperKult 19: mobiles -- You are now here

Dass Computer, also Telefone, plötzlich wissen, wo sie sind – und dies auch anderen verraten –, hat erhebliche Bewegung in die Computer-Kultur gebracht. Location Based Services helfen zu vergessen, dass Computer von gestern autochthone Immobilien waren: sie bringen ihnen das Laufen bei.
Der Reiz dessen, die vier Dimensionen der Raumzeit als Metadatum allem anzuhängen, was nicht niet- und nagelfest ist, ist so hoch, dass User sich freiwillig überwachen lassen, um ihren Mitmenschen zu offenbaren, wo sie gerade anzutreffen sind.
Die GPS in den neuen Kameras fügen den Knipsort automatisch in die digitalen Bilderalben ein: der panoptische Blick kommt auch weiterhin ohne Wachpersonal aus.
Endlich dürfen wir auch im Privaten tun, was die Dienste schon längst praktizieren: Bewegungsprofile anlegen, die dann Wander-Routen heißen; Körperdaten für die Fitness erfassen; Gelände erkunden, also location based spielen; Überwachungskameras betreiben und Google Street View anschauen.
Die Handies von heute lassen uns Echtbilder mit virtuellen Realitäten verschneiden, was der Augmented Reality einen späten und unerwarteten Durchbruch verschafft hat.
Das Territorium ist nun doch die Karte.
Es handelt sich dabei um einen echten Ausbruch aus Moores Law, denn nicht die Rechnerleistung dient mehr allein als Messlatte des technischen Fortschritts, sondern eben auch mobile Bandbreite und Netzabdeckung durch den Einzug der Mobilfunk- in die Rechnertechnik.
Geräte mit Leistungen von vor zehn Jahren werden massenhaft gekauft, weil sie in die Hosentasche passen, die »Apps« sind nicht nur schlank, sondern generieren neue Umsätze, sogar der Medienindustrie, die sich nun für ihre Inhalte auch online bezahlen lässt.
Was dies für die Computerkultur bedeutet, wie es die Kunst mit Computern herausfordert, welche Konsequenzen sich für die Privatheit abzeichnen, welche neue Art der Kartografie entsteht, wie sich Rechnerarchitekturen verändern, woran man beim Entwickeln von location based Software nun alles zu denken hat und ob sich da eine neue Ökonomie abzeichnet: darüber wird zu reden sein.

WBIR 2010 - Workshop on Biomedical Image Registration
The Workshop on Biomedical Image Registration aims to bring together leading researchers in the area of biomedical image registration to present and discuss recent developments in the field. The format of the two-day workshop will include both oral and poster presentations and offers opportunities for discussion.
Previous WBIRs took place in Bled, Slovenia (1999), at the University of Pennsylvania, USA (2003) and in Utrecht, The Netherlands (2006).

Special Session on: Self-X and Autonomous Control in Mechatronics and Production

The increasing of adoption of methods from computational intelligence, biologically inspired computing,and optimization in engineering discipline such as mechatronics
or production enables the development of a new class of autonomous systems. These systems often posses abilities which are best describe by the phrase
Self-X:Self-Optimization, Self-Coordination, Self-Healing, Self-Repair and many more.
These properties have in common that they shift decision making from humans to the technical systems. This shift has two possible benefits. First, decision made during
the design of the system can be delayed until operation and thus the system is able to react more flexible to different application requirements. Second, the human effort

ICCHP - International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs

CCHP focuses on all aspects related to Assistive Technologies (AT) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for people with disabilities. According changes in awareness and understanding of disability as well as social and legal frameworks, driven by Disability Rights and Independent Living Movements led to what is known as eAccessibility, Universal Design or eInclusion. User involvement and user centred design are the underlying general topic of ICCHP leading to an interdisciplinary discussion of all stakeholders in the value chain that allows social innovation in the information society.
Interfacing the existing and emerging Human-Computer Interface is and will stay a key issue if ICCHP.

Seit 2004 findet diese exklusive Konferenz jedes zweite Jahr mit 100 Experten und Entscheidern aller fünf Kontinente statt. Der kommende Termin ist vom 21. bis zum 24. Juli 2010 festgelegt. Wie auch in den Vorjahren wird die Konferenz wieder auf dem Renaissance-Schloss Hofen, das in Lochau in der Nähe von Bregenz am Bodensee gelegen ist, abgehalten.
Die Konferenz wird alle Bereiche elektronischer Wahlen, wie juristische, technische, soziale, politische Aspekte aber auch Berichte von praktischen Erfahrungen aus ganz Europa und der Welt, beinhalten. Wie schon 2008 werden auch Workshops ausgewählter Experten Teil der Konferenz sein. Die Teilnahmegebühr für die EVOTE2010 wird 300 EUR (inkl. Ust) betragen. Die Konferenz ist aus Platzgründen auf 100 Teilnehmer beschränkt.
Soziale Aktivitäten mit viel Gelegenheit zum Netzwerken, wie das legendäre Abendessen “Käsestraße“ oder ein Besuch Giuseppe Verdi’s Oper „Aida“ auf der Bregenzer Seebühne, sind die Highlights nach getaner Arbeit. Weiters wird im Vorfeld der Konferenz ein Workshop des Pan Europäischen Partizipationsnetzwerkes „Pep-Net“ stattfinden (http://www.pep-net.eu).

BIOSIG 2010 - BEST Biometrics - beyond security applications

Most visible biometric applications on the market are “mandatory” applications for state security, such as border control and national ID programmes. At the same time biometrics has become a technology with which European citizens voluntarily interact daily as an enabling, convenient technology. Among these are applications in e-commerce, e-banking and health monitoring, and also voluntary security applications such as positive identification for fast tracking border control. All of these are expected to have a profound ethical, social, and legal impact on everyday life. The first large scale implementations of biometric identity management systems revealed basic challenges requiring further research and development in order to improve the state-of-the-art towards higher maturity and better biometric performance, interoperability, scalability, system reliability and usability. An emphasis is given on protection against identity fraud and spoofing attacks.
The BIOSIG 2010 conference will present best practices that can be transferred into future applications.
BIOSIG 2010 on September 09.-10. is jointly organized by the Competence Center for Applied Security Technology (CAST), the German Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik – BSI), the Biometric European Stakeholders Network (BEST Network), the EU Joint Research Centre, and the special interest group BIOSIG of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI).

Zuverlässigkeit und Entwurf ZuE 2010
Mikroelektronik wird vermehrt in eingebetteten, autonomen und so genannten „Cyber Physical“ Systemen eingesetzt, die unmittelbar mit Mensch und Umwelt kommunizieren. Ihr Be-trieb ohne direkten menschlichen Eingriff stellt besonders hohe Anforderungen an die Zuverlässigkeit der Informationsverarbeitung in Hard- und Software im gesamten Lebenszyklus.
Zugleich hat die Sicherstellung der Zuverlässigkeit zentrale wirtschaftliche Aspekte, die von der Qualitätssicherung bis zur Produkthaftung reichen. Dem steht gegenüber, dass bei weiter sinkenden Strukturgrößen in der Mikroelektronik die gefertigten elementaren Komponenten wie Transistoren und Leitungen über einen sehr großen Parameterbereich variieren.
Es besteht dringender Bedarf an innovativen Verfahren, um die Ausbeute, Zuverlässigkeit und Diagnosefähigkeit von mikro- und nanoelektronischen Systemen durch Fehlertoleranz, integrierte Reparaturmechanismen und Diag-nosehilfsmittel zu gewährleisten und ihre Quali-tät durch entsprechende Entwurfs-, Verifikations- und Testverfahren über alle Systemebenen sicher zu stellen. Diese Verfahren müssen sowohl Fertigungsfehler und Parameterschwankungen als auch Störungen während des Betriebs kompensieren können.

55. IWK - Crossing Borders within the ABC - Automation, Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science

The Faculty of Computer Science and Automation takes great pleasure in inviting researchers, students, practitioners and all who are interested in technology to come to Ilmenau University of Technology on 13th – 17th September 2010 for the 55th International Scientific Colloquium (IWK). The IWK looks back on a long tradition and has proved itself again and again to be the best of platforms for scientific exchange, whatever the different political, economic or scientific situation.
This year’s title is Crossing Borders within the ABC of Automation, Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science. This breadth represents the many fields in which the Faculty of Computer Science and Automation excels in research and teaching. The interdisciplinary nature of the Faculty’s work crosses not only the borders between the departments in Ilmenau but those between Ilmenau and other research or teaching establishments within Germany and beyond. This multiple competence in engineering and computing is acknowledged internationally. With both our own interests and those of our University’s partners in mind, it is our intention to maintain this edge long-term and on a sustainable basis. The organising committee has decided to offer the 2010 IWK in the form of workhops.
Experience obtained in many international conferences suggests that academic meetings function most effectively when there is this form of scientific discussion and exchange of information. New research projects and teaching concepts are often a result. You may choose the workshops that you feel most at home in from the topic point of view. At the same time the fact that there are so many workshops means that members of all workshops will come in contact with neighbouring topics. Such synergy is just the intention of the organisers, who wish to encourage interdisciplinary research and development.
Please accept this invitation as a challenge to withstand the trends of passing fashion and resist inflationary pressure to publish; come to share in this setting where quality is written as large as originality and creativity: the International Scientific Colloquium in Ilmenau in 2010. Take the opportunity of presenting your innovative work and your current research results.

Sportinformatik trifft Sporttechnologie

Sportinformatik und Sporttechnologie haben traditionell ein enges Verhältnis. Als technologiebezogene Teildisziplinen der Sportwissenschaft stehen sie nicht nur in inhaltlicher Nähe, sondern kennzeichnen sich auch durch gemeinsame Forschungsthemen, die sich nur mit Expertise auf beiden Gebieten bearbeiten lassen. Beispiele hierfür sind die Konstruktion und Optimierung von Sport- und Trainingsgeräten, die Entwicklung von Mess- und Diagnosesystemen sowie die Modellierung und Simulationen von sportbezogenen Prozessen.
Ziel des Symposiums ist es, Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen aus beiden Bereichen zu einem Austausch über den aktuellen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsstand zusammenzubringen. Neben Arbeitskreisen zu ausgewählten Themen der Sportinformatik bzw. Sporttechnologie ist eine Podiumsdiskussion geplant, in der verbindende und distinguierende Momente der beiden Fächer identifiziert und Fragen der nationalen und internationalen Ausrichtung von Sportinformatik und Sporttechnologie diskutiert werden.

FM+AM'10: 2nd Workshop on Formal Methods and Agile Methods
Formal Methods (FM) and Agile Methods (AM) are often seen as antagonists in the field of software methodololgy, but this does not necessarily be the case.
For this workshop we are seeking novel contributions that can be used for making rapid development techniques more formally sound, as well as for accelerating the speed of formally sound development techniques.
This could be done for example, by: providing the "agile team" with sound CASE tool support or by adopting "agile" work-modes (such as: working in pairs, etc.) into the practice of formal modelling.
The Programme Committee of our workshop has members from both areas, FM and AM; each submission will be carefully reviewed with regard to its contribution to the theme of the workshop, namely the feasible combination of FM+AM.
